Sequential ambulance dispatch models for optimizing emergency medical services

In the last decade, there has been a growing concern in Japan about proper use of resources related to emergency medical services, including ambulances. This letter proposes two new methods optimize ambulance deployment using dynamic model, which precisely represents sequential decision-making process ambulances dispatched each request. These give allocations minimize arrival times all requests but differ formulating objectives: one minimizes average, and other maximum. A computer simulation is used compare performances terms efficiency fairness.
